A young girl with long, curly brown hair and a black shirt, smiles while holding multiple colorful dresses on hangers. Behind her, there is a banner for Ballet Bridges, a non-profit organization supporting ballet for underserved youth. There are tables with folded clothes and a clothing rack in the background.

Our beginnings

Hello and welcome! My name is Nily Samara, and I am a senior at the International Academy and an incoming freshman at Brown University. I fell in love with ballet when I saw my first ballet performance, The Nutcracker, at the age of six, and have been dancing ever since. Then, in 2022, teaching dance classes to a younger cousin with a disability inspired me to make ballet accessible to everyone, regardless of background or financial standing, by collaborating with foster communities, special education schools, refugee centers, and more to provide free, high-quality classes. Ballet can have a transformative effect on people's lives, and I believe that every child should have the opportunity to explore their creativity, develop new skills, and build self-confidence through dance.
